The Stäubli formerly Multi-Contact (MC) range includes not only standard measuring accessories but also solutions for high-frequency measurements as well as a wide selection of highly flexible cables and wires. All safety measuring accessories are touch-protected according to IEC/EN 61010-031 and comply with the latest standards.

Measurement Categories According to EN 61010-031 (VDE 0411-031) 

For easy assignment of the appropriate measuring accessories, the standard EN61010-031 defines four measurement categories ("CAT"), which specify in which network areas work can be performed and what requirements must be met.

Previously, these categories were referred to as overvoltage categories because they were oriented towards the expected transients (short-term voltage spikes). Today, the measurement categories primarily consider the available power in the event of a short circuit:

• Higher Measurement Category (e.g., CAT IV) - More energy can be released, which requires higher safety requirements. 
• Lower Measurement Category (e.g., CAT I) - Lower hazard potential, therefore lower requirements for the accessories. 

You can find the corresponding CAT indication in our catalogs at the rated voltage and on the products themselves. In general, the higher the CAT, the stricter the safety requirement - with the exception of CAT I.
